Cheryl Hayes, President & CEO
Ms. Hayes is a recognized expert on financing issues and strategies and has approximately 30 years of experience in public policy research on issues affecting the well-being of children and families. Before joining The Finance Project, she served as executive director of the National Commission on Children, a bipartisan presidential-congressional commission charged with assessing the status of America’s children and families and presenting a national policy agenda for improving health, education, income security, and social supports. She also directed the National Academy of Sciences and National Research Council policy research program on children and families and is the author and editor of numerous books and articles on public policies for children and families. Ms. Hayes holds a master’s degree in American history from Georgetown University and a master’s degree in business administration from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
